Uncertainty Assessment of Entropy-Based Circular Channel Shear Stress Prediction Models Using a Novel Method

Entropy models have been recently adopted in many studies to evaluate the shear stress distribution open-channel flows. Although uncertainty of Shannon and Tsallis entropy were analyzed separately previous studies, other comparisons their reliability remain an open question. In this study, a new method is presented four models, Shannon, Shannon-Power Law (PL), Tsallis, Renyi, prediction circular channels. method, model with largest value percentage observed data within confidence bound (Nin) smallest Forecasting Range Error Estimation (FREE) most reliable. Based on using effect Optimized (FREEopt) Confidence Bound (OCB), statistic index called FREEopt-based OCB (FOCB) introduced. The lower FOCB, more certain model. PL entropies had close values FOCB equal 8.781 9.808, respectively, highest certainty, followed by ρgRs 14.491 14.895, respectively. However, Renyi entropy, 57.726, less certainty.
